I have been on a bit of a DIY spree lately and I could not be happier. I am the kind of person who often looks at things and trends and thinks “oh I can totally make that myself”. The engineer in me then proceeds to deconstruct the object in my head and then constructs it back again. I then give a pitiful smirk to the people spending a huge amount of hard earned money on the same object, before proudly walking away feeling immensely satisfied.
Unfortunately on most occasions that is where my DIY story ends, well I am busy ok! – 60 hours of youtube videos are uploaded every minute and I have to watch them all, then there are Facebook and instagram, so clearly it leaves me no time for DIY’s.
But I finally turned all devices off and deicided to give those creative juices a stir, I picked 2 fashion accessories to DIY, these are the biggest fashion trends of the season, people are spending a ton of money purchasing them, when they can actually be DIYed for pennies, I am talking about the gladiator sandals and chokers.
DIY Gladiator Sandals
Let me just start off by saying that gladiator sandals are not for everyone, if you have long lean legs, go ahead and indulge in a fabulous pair of gladiator sandals, because with those never ending legs you can rock these sandals, hell you could kill it in just about anything. However, if like me your legs are not endless and to add if the ankles are a little chubby, gladiator sandals do us no favours. Also ensure that they hug your calves right, else they can look extremely sloppy and unappealing.
Unsure about whether gladiator sandals are right for you or not? Just DIY a pair of gladiator sandals and see for yourself. In the video below I DIY 2 kinds of gladiator sandals – a super trendy pair of gladiator sandals and a boho black pair of gladiators.
Another fashion accessory that has become a bit of a rage these days is the choker. I think it would be safe to say that the Kardashians brought it back from the 90′s and into the spotlight in 2016. Now these are so ridiculously simple and inexpensive to make that there is absolutely no reason to ever buy one. It also gives you a chance to get creative and make one for every kind of occasion.
In the video below I show you 5 ways of creating a DIY choker, just a little inspiration to get you going on your own DIY spree.
I hope you enjoyed the DIY series. If you do try any of these, don’t forget to share your pictures with me
