Beautiful Places : Old Lahore : A Tourist Must
One lifetime really does not seem to be enough to discover and admire all the beautiful places around us. It seems too short to be able to unravel and appreciate all the love and the lovely people that touch our lives. You add to this the boundaries created by man : geographical, political and personal and that leaves us with so many places and so many people we will probably never know…
They are like treasures hidden in our backyard, never to be unearthed and enjoyed..
One such gem I discovered (online sigh!!) is Old Lahore, from just a few pictures I can tell the place has so much character, every colour adds personality, every hallway tells a story of an era gone by, every detail around every window talks of art and culture..
I think I should stop talking now…what follows is a post from the gorgeous site siddysays.com ….
“That crazy elated feeling you get when you find something wonderful?! Yes, that’s what we’re feeling RIGHT now as I design this post. At SiddySays we’re always in search of hidden gems and I’m personally shocked it took us this long to discover one right here in Lahore.
If you’re a tourist or a local, Old Lahore – The Walled City is a must visit. Normally the food gets people heading to that part of town BUT what if you had a chance to experience the old city first hand… Not just look down at it from a restaurant terrace. What if you could walk through time, interact with people, see sights you would never have seen otherwise… We’d take that up in a jiffy (and yes we are going to very soon). The brain child of Farhan Shah who’s ancestral home Fakir Khana is one of the Walled City’s hidden gems itself, the Old Lahore Walkabouts organizes groups to experience Lahore first hand.
Here is what you should know:
Old Lahore walkabouts is a tourism company that delves deep into the walled city of Lahore to highlight it’s hidden treasures unknown to the outside world. It takes heritage seekers on a walking spree around the walled city on different routes designed specifically to shed light on the different aspects of Lahore’s enchanting culture, multiple layers of history and associated delightful stories.
Stroll through the narrow and puzzling passages of residential blocks. Enjoy the unique way of life of the inner city residents. Stumble upon marvelous monuments you have never heard of or seen before. Dip your fingers in some mouth-watering road side food and listen to the charming stories and legends of Lahore that are the expertise of the Old Lahore Walkabouts team. Go down the memory lane and immerse yourself in nostalgia; get merged in the inner city’s magnificent way of life as it has been lived for hundreds of years.” Contact 0300-8462626 Farhan Shah”
